Critical Adobe Reader Security Patch

A critical patch update has come to our attention for users of Adobe Reader. A security vulnerability has been identified in Adobe Reader 8. Follow the link to the Adobe site and upgrade to Adobe 9 or apply a patch update to your Adobe Reader as soon as possible.

Sprint and Cogent in Network Disagreement

It appears Sprint and Cogent are in a contract disagreement resulting in Sprint dropping terminating network traffic to Cogent over the weekend. Although Sprint has reconnected to the Cogent networks as of this morning, a suit has been filed for breach of contract by Sprint in Fairfax County Court.

 
 

What this means to you is if Sprint is your internet carrier, they may be dropping traffic to Cogent sites at any time. You would the not be able to access web sites hosted on Cogent networks or send email to mail servers where Cogent is the carrier. If that does become the case, you may want to seriously consider switching to a carrier that does not play these kind of games with its peers.
